Matt Reid

Matt Reid is seasoned F&B veteran and creative disruptor. A driving force and founder at Maximal Concepts, a well respected and multi-award winning restaurant group with over eighteen individually created brands over numerous international locations. Matt has been at the forefront of pushing the boundaries of the restaurant scene with the notable creation of Mott 32, the Group’s flagship restaurant. Mott 32 is redefining luxury Chinese cuisine and expanding rapidly with new locations in Vancouver, Bangkok, Singapore, Las Vegas and Seoul all underway. Designed in collaboration with Joyce Wang, Mott 32 won World Interior of the Year (INSIDE Award) in 2016. 

This year, Matt has been invited to be on the panel of judges for the industry leading Restaurant & Bar Design Awards in London. Prior to Maximal Concepts, Matt part of team who created from scratch, and later sold, the number one selling premium vodka in China, Solid Vodka.   Matt is passionate social entrepreneur sitting on two charities Board of Directors. At Plastic Oceans Foundation (HK) he is part of the team that produced the much acclaimed ‘A Plastic Ocean’, with Oscar winning producer Adam Leipzig. Over the coming months, Matt is launching a new social enterprise, Plastic Conscious, working with famous artist Shephard Fairey, and others, to drive awareness and change in the food packaging industry.


Chris barber

Chris Barber, [CEO] has been in the financial sector for the past ten years.  He began his career trading credit derivatives for Moore Capital Management, one of the world’s premier multi billon dollar hedge funds in New York City, before transitioning to Bank of America Merrill Lynch. He was fast tracked to Vice President of FX Trading where he managed proprietary and bank risk in the United States and Asia.  

In 2014, Chris applied his global risk management and macro skillset towards the private banking world and became a partner at Aeron Global Sourcing.  There he focused on filtering strategic deal flow and private equity throughout Asia and the United States.  Chris has spent the past year and a half filtering projects within the rapidly growing cannabinoid industry and will be applying his global banking network to help expand the Disruption Labs footprint as well as handling the day to day operations of the business. 



Andrew Garnock, [Chairman] is a Founding Partner and strategic advisor with over twenty years of experience in the financial industry.  He co-founded a private hedge fund which managed a derivative trading portfolio of over $200 million dollars.  Over the past few years he has been at the forefront of the cannabinoid industry and after many years of filtering projects Andrew adds a tremendous amount of knowledge and private investment experience within this space.  His investment resume boasts a broad array of companies from technology, consumer discretionary, health and medicine, real estate, mining and more. 


Malcolm Wood is a restless entrepreneur. The 35-year-old resident of Hong Kong is a British national of Eurasian descent who quickly climbed the business ladder to become a well-respected entrepreneur and market leader in his industry sector. His passion for design and food led him to co-found the multi-award winning Maximal Concepts, which manages and owns over eighteen individual brands and has restaurants in numerous international locations. In addition to being Culinary Director, Malcolm is also Global Managing Director. Maximal Concepts is one of the fastest growing F&B companies in the World and one of the most awarded in Asia.

Malcolm is a brand Ambassador for Vacheron Constantin and more recently Mercedes Benz. Vacheron Constantin is one of the top luxury watch brands. Both brands selected Malcolm to represent the brand as one of the leader Asian Entrepreneurs & Adventurers. He is a paragliding pilot and has spent the recent years working on his climbing and speed riding passions. Malcolm, and his business partner Matt Reid, are both passionate social entrepreneurs sitting on two charities Board’s of Directors. They helped produce the film, A Plastic Ocean, with Oscar winning producer, Adam Leipzig, which they hope will change consumer behavior from using plastic in a destructive manner that is systemically poisoning our oceans, which in turn is impacting the human food supply chain. Also an avid outdoor enthusiast, fisherman and conservationist, Malcolm is the ambassador of Skeena Wild, a conservation group that supports rehabilitation of wild salmon habitats. He also sits on the Board of Directors for the Hong Kong Shark Foundation, which helps change attitude towards the consumption of shark in Asia. He founded Skeena Spey, a northern Canadian luxury wilderness lodge, which offers fly fishing and heli-skiing and is home to some of the largest wild salmon left on earth.
